Usually I don’t get to excited about bookweek. But when my daughter announced who she wanted to go as this year that all changed. (For context I’m “that” parent who ducks into Kmart the night before or encourages them to go in their favourite onesie #truthtime - and I’m all good with that as costumes have never been my thing). Until this year. After we read through a childrens biography of Ruth Bader-Ginsburg #notoriousrbg several months ago my daughter she had a new hero. Back then she made her bookweek plans clear. So over the last few weeks I shifted gears big-time to help her do this. Collar = Etsy Gavel = eBay Earrings = Lovisa Glasses = Kmart Gown = borrowed from a neighbour as the one I bought online was way too short. We had several dress rehearsals, practiced the hair. So excited for weeks and counting down the days. Getting her ready this morning was an absolute delight before heading into the city for an exciting day of work. It’s moments like these that give me so much hope and optimism about what the future holds. “Here’s to Strong Women. May we know them. May we be them. May we raise them”

Am I the only one who wonders if she took the gavel to the male busts behind her? No, just me? 🤣

Love this so much!! 💃💃 Maybe a new line of costumes for Kmart … “Inspiring Humans” series with matching costumes and books. There’s some great books now including kids books on Coco Chanel and others who were progressive for their time. Anyone know Kmart here??

I think book week is such a lovely concept , what’s not so positive however - the waste and impact to our environment with people buying outfits children probably wear all but once. Meaning , apart from being proud of your daughters choice of book and “character “, you can also be proud of how you sourced her costume 👌

That's the best bookweek costume I've seen in a long time! She looks like a young RGB 👏🏼

She looks amazingly like RBG. At first I could not understand why she was in the picture. Good job.

This is awesome, bought tears to my eyes as I know it will have meant as much to your daughter as it did you and I love how they choose their role models even at a young age. #bestmum 💕👏
