How to Make the Most of Your To-Do List

Do you ever stress about the things you need to do? Making a mental list of the things you need to accomplish and praying you don’t forget any item as you run the list over and over again in your head. The stress you feel in just trying to remember them can be significant. Surprisingly, the stress of remembering them can actually pour over into making you feel that accomplishing the items is stressful. They may even be simple items.

Here’s the tip: Write down your list. You may be surprised at how much stress this simple activity will relieve! And sometimes you may be surprised at how small your list actually is!

And doesn’t it feel great to scratch something off your to-do list? Is there anything more satisfying than the sound and feel of the pencil on the paper forming that bold, straight stroke through those words? The awesome feeling inside. Sigh.

Wouldn’t it be great to have that feeling of success more often? And enjoy the stress reduction that comes with accomplishing another task? Go to bed feeling a sense of accomplishment!

Here’s the tip: Break your list up into smaller pieces i.e. break up “clean the house” into “clean the kitchen, clean the living room, clean the bathroom” and focus more on the internal feeling of accomplishing these tasks instead of downplaying how small of a task it was. Small but ACCOMPLISHED!! Yeah! And your list will be there tomorrow so at the end of the day, don’t think about the ones you have yet to finish, rather focus on the ones you stroked off today!
