The Middle Fork Fire north of Boulder is now under control, and no structures were burned.

According to Marya Washburn with the Boulder County emergency center, crews were able to get the fire under control Thursday night, and three engines will continue mop-up operations today.

Officials did not yet have a size estimate for the fire.

The fire has been turned back over to the Lefthand Fire Protection District, with most of the other resources being directed to the Marshall Fire in east Boulder County.

U.S. 36 is now open in both directions in that area after being closed for most of the day Thursday. The highway remains closed with limited evacuation access between Interlocken Boulevard and Table Mesa Drive exits.

The fire started sometime after 10 a.m. Thursday near North Foothills Highway and Middle Fork Road.

The only structure damaged in the area was a shed that blew over in the wind. According to radio traffic, the shed falling onto some power lines is what may have started the fire.
