The pandemic turned out not to be purely just a professional success for me… You see, since the age of 7, I have lived with Alopecia Universalis, an autoimmune condition which means I have no hair at all - anywhere! This has meant that for the longest time, I have been known to have wildly different hair colours from one day to the next, but on a deeper level it has meant that in a world where ‘different’ isn’t always celebrated, I have spent a lot of time (and money!) trying to fit in. But after 25 years of wearing a wig, I made the decision to reveal myself to the world regardless of how others may perceive me.. If the way I look affects whether or not someone will work with me then I'd rather not work with that potential client anyhow. I know that it is not my hair or lack thereof that has created and maintained great working relationships over the years. It's the quality of workmanship we've provided and the outcomes we've delivered. So, to the future I say - this is me. I am proud of who I am and who I've become despite being dealt an unusual hand. I'm proud of my optimism, my sunny disposition, my can-do attitude and intelligence - and my gorgeous head! And as you can see in my photo - it certainly doesn't affect how I show up on camera 😉

I can understand choosing a different style or color of artificial hair every day as a fashion accessory. But I hate to think you bad some hesitation to reveal your natural appearance because of some fear of being considered unattractive. With some people, a hairless appearance enhances beauty, and even sensuality. And you seem to be one of those people. As a sort of PS--actress Tiffany Haddish appeared during the Covid lockdown on one of the late-night talk shows, and revealed that while sheltering-in-place she'd shaved her head bald, to avoid the trouble of daily maintenance. And without hair, the actress was literally stunning, breathtakingly beautiful.

Love it 🎥 Rebecca Saunders thanks for sharing! I am curious about in what ways the pandemic has been a period of success for you? I too feel this way, but often feel a bit reserved (not as brave as you yet!) in sharing it -- as for many it's been a hard time and there is a pretty big #snapback narrative at play. I have seen how working virtually has brought voices that don't usually get heard to the table in Zoom meetings, better collaboration using virtual tools that rely less on extraversion or formal power, and space for people to be more of themselves. This is not to mention I have never slept so well and don't miss my 3-hour round commute, to an open plan noisy office in which I find hard to concentrate in and not be overstimulated. And I haven't even got started on my reduced carbon footprint or better choices with how I spend my money!

Fantastic. Hair is over rated, especially the stuff we spend a fortune lazering, waxing and tweezing off! The up side to Alopecia. You look amazing. Having only seen you with no hair from your pic, I need to tell you that you are rocking it out. In fact, the only issue i see here is possibly the need for sunscreen. Brilliant minds and personality don't need hair to complete them.

I already thought you were an amazing business woman but to see the strength of your convictions and the challenges you have faced is inspiring.

Congratulations Bec, it looks great”off” you. I’m glad you’re liberated. As a result, you’ll probably be indirectly helping others too. I’m expecting this could be a fashion trend you look so great because you’re really showing your true inner self.

Rebecca you are gorgeous as you are, and very photogenic. Let's face it we all have parts of us we would change if we could but at the end of the day, it is about loving ourselves no matter what anyone thinks. A person's character should NOT be determined by how they look, but we live in a sad society who judge very harshly. Love yourself and be confident in who you are - a beautiful and inspiring young woman!
